The 2012 show will be on Saturday 14th July at Claygate Recreation
Ground. Note this is the second Saturday in July!
FANTASTIC FAMILY FUN AT THE
CLAYGATE FLOWER & VILLAGE SHOW!
Surrey's biggest show of its kind, the Claygate Flower & Village Show, celebrated its 108th
anniversary on Saturday July 16. Fingers were crossed for the weather but the heavens
opened just as the show started! However this quickly cleared and the sun shone all
afternoon and evening as guests enjoyed almost 2,000 exhibits, packed into a marquee
measuring 250 feet long.
There was all-day interest from children eager to befriend the farmyard animals, snakes and spiders! Other attractions
included the Claygate Scout & Guide band, children's dancing and sports, Kuk Soo Won martial arts display, Punch & Judy,
Morris Men, Dog show, Classic cars, a funfair and a Grand Draw offering cash prizes. The stalls village was a great
attraction, selling such things as jewellery, soaps, scarves, bags, home-made jams, plants and much, much more.
At the end of the afternoon the worthy prize winners received cups and trophies, and awards were made to the Claygate In
Bloom front garden and pub-frontage winners. The Classic Car competition was won by a James Bond look-alike Aston
Martin. Another successful Claygate Flower & Village Show - and organisers are already looking forward to next year's
show on Saturday July 14th 2012 - yes that's right the SECOND and not the third Saturday in July. They are planning
something special for Olympics year, so put a note in your diary!
Community Spirit
The Show is a fine example of community spirit. It is organised entirely by volunteers, dedicating hours to ensure its
continued success.
Barry Fitzpatrick, Claygate Flower & Village Show's Chairman, said:
"We are fortunate to be part of a thriving community here, and most of the organisations in Claygate take part in the Show,
which makes it a real village event."

Chairman 2011
