Claygate Flower & Village Show

Covid Policy Statement 2021

This year the Claygate Flower & Village Show has been planned so that it can still take place in our community, despite the threat of Covid, by being online and on our doorsteps. To that end we encourage people to take part but, as always, to stay in line with government restrictions to stay safe and not spread the virus.

The Claygate Flower & Village Show committee have organised activities and performances around the village. This COVID policy has been put in place to protect everyone involved during the weekend including committee members, volunteers, activity participants and the local community. If you are joining us for this very special Village Weekend, please make sure you follow the guidelines to keep yourself and others safe.

Lateral Flow Testing

To keep the organising committee, volunteers and show visitors safe we are asking committee members and volunteers to provide a negative lateral flow test before joining us onsite for the show or set up.

Face coverings

The wearing of masks for outdoor events is recommended for committee members, volunteers and visitors.  It is also recommended for participants wherever practical.

The wearing of masks is compulsory for all when inside (visiting the village hall, youth club and toilets).

Hand Sanitising

Hand sanitisation stations will be available and maintained by the organising committee, at the entrance and exit to the outside venues run by the organising committee such as the Claygate village hall car park, Claygate day centre car park, Youth Club and, on Sunday, the Hare & Hounds car park.  Please sanitise your hands as often as possible for your protection as well as others. Hand sanitisers will also be available at the entrance to the Village Hall, Youth Club and toilets and must be used. Equipment - Items of equipment supplied by the organising committee such as chairs will be sanitised after each use.

Managing Visitors

We will have signs and reminders to stay socially distanced and to remain in family/small groups and volunteers will be expected to provide reminders if necessary.  Please adhere to these rules for your and others safety.

There will be one-way systems in place to:

  • queue for activities

  • queue for toilets

  • enter/exit locations with smaller entrances

The numbers attending the venues run by the organising committee will be limited.  For activities taking place at the village hall car park, visitors must wait in a queue until shown by a volunteer to the seated area.  Standing will not be permitted.

There will be a QR Code at the entrance to the car parks and Youth Club premises where activities are due to take place.  Please use these for Track & Trace purposes.

The pubs where the Thames Valley Morris Men are due to dance also provide QR Codes for Track and Trace purposes that should be used.

To avoid cross contamination, each toilet block at the Village Hall will be assigned to different groups of people.  These Village Hall toilets should only be used by members of the public in an emergency.  You are requested to use the public toilets at the Claygate Recreation Ground or toilets at nearby pubs.

What to do if you feel unwell

Please stay at home and do not attend any of the venues where activities are due to take place. If you start to feel unwell or experience any of the symptoms for COVID during the day, please make your way home as quickly as possible and follow government guidelines for testing and reporting.

Thank you for helping us to run this much needed show safely!
